Frequently asked questions

What is a HIP?

A Hedera Improvement Proposal — the public process for changing the network. Every new feature, standard or service on Hedera is specified in a numbered HIP that the community reviews and the council approves before it ships.

How many HIPs are there?

Around 160 proposals are indexed here, from early drafts to Final and Active standards. The list is rebuilt daily from the official hedera-improvement-proposal repository.

What do the HIP statuses mean?

Draft and Review mean a proposal is still being written. Last Call and Approved mean it is close to adoption. Final and Active mean it is live on mainnet.
